For my Communications 122 class, which focused on qualitative research methods, I conducted a study about Cosmopolitan's sex and relationship advice articles and their relation to the feminist movement. Growing up, Cosmopolitan was one of my favorite magazines to read; I thought it was breaking taboos and empowering me as a woman. However, my opinion of the magazine changed when I entered college. I decided to re-examine the magazine in order to question just how empowering it really was. My research paper, titled "It's Just for Fun": Cosmopolitan, Sex/Relationship Articles, and Feminism.
