For my English 325 class, we were instructed to write three essays over the course of the semester, all of which had no prompt or directions. Having total control over my writing was both liberating and challenging, as I was forced to create my own worthy topics of writing even if I wasn't feeling particularly inspired. At times,  after experiencing brief fits of writer's block, I would do some personal reflection to find topics of inspiration. This introverted process is what lead to the creation of my second essay about my personal passion for authentic items, such as typewriters and record players, that serve their own purpose and demand their own space. Viewing my essay from a different perspective, one might interpret it as a declaration of a personal distaste for modern technology, digitization, and convergence.  This essay, titled "A Return To A Simpler Time" can be read below:
